Doesn’t sound possible or even probable, but you can — and I have — savored great food, supported local Seattle businesses, and saved money all at the same time.

How did that happen? My wife and I were enjoying Happy Hour at Queen City restaurant in Belltown when our friendly waitress gave me a brochure that described a cashback program for local restaurants using the Carrot app (meetcarrot.xyz).

After I downloaded the app, I connected it to my Citi credit card through Plaid, which is a reliable and trusted way to link an app to a bank.

Then I started using the app. Since I wasn’t in Seattle that much longer, I only dined at four restaurants listed on the app: Lady Yum, Japonessa Sushi Cocina, Mirabelle by Orphee, and Chiho Bistro. After the charges were processed on my credit card, I received $27.21 in cashback funds, which I then transferred to my bank via Venmo. That easy.

And the restaurants were all places I probably would have dined at anyway in neighborhoods I was already dining in anyway.

The app gives discounts at select restaurants in Belltown, Downtown Seattle, and Pioneer Square. And the list keeps growing.
If you live in Seattle and dine out a lot, it’s worth getting the Seattle Pass on the Carrot app. For a $20 fee, you get larger discounts at the restaurants on the app. It will pay for itself very quickly.

And just think: as you’re doing good for local businesses, you’re doing good for yourself too.
